Tehran Auction grosses over 800 billion rials

The 13th Tehran Auction grosses more than 800 billion rials.

The 13th edition of the Tehran Auction has grossed more than 800 billion rials (about $4 million).

Held on Friday, a total number of 110 lots of modern and contemporary Iranian art pieces were offered during the auction at Tehran’s Parsian Azadi Hotel.

The most expensive work of the auction was ‘Memories of Hope’, a diptych gouache and colored pencil created on cardboard by Aidin Aghdashlou in 2020. The artwork was sold for 120 billion rials (about $550,000).

The second most expensive work was ‘Master and Disciple’, a bronze sculpture created in 2011 by Parviz Tanavoli. It was sold for 67 billion rials (more than $300,000).

An acrylic on canvas by Hossein Zendehroudi titled ‘DJE-DJA-DOU was the third most expensive work of the auction. It fetched 63 billion rials (more than $280,000).

The next expensive item was an untitled calligraphic painting on canvas from the series ‘The Whisper of Love’ by Mohammad Ehsaee. It fetched 59 billion rials (about $267,000).
